On the occasion of the 92nd birth anniversary of Bangamata Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib, wife of the Greatest Bangalee of all time, the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Kolkata organized a program at the “Bangladesh Gallery” of the Mission premises. The program included laying floral wreath at the portrait of Bangamata Begum Fazilatun Nesa Mujib, display of documentary, reading out messages from the Hon’ble President and the Hon’ble Prime Minister of Bangladesh followed by a discussion session. The Deputy High Commissioner of this Mission recognized the tremendous contribution of Bangamata in every struggle of Bangabandhu in achieving the independence of Bangladesh. He highlighted that with the observance of this event, the people of Bangladesh would be enlightened and the women of Bangladesh would be highly inspired. Dr. Pabitra Sarkar, eminent educationalist, former Vice- Chancellor of Rabindra Bharati University and awardee of “Friends of Bangladesh Liberation War” termed H.E. Sheikh Hasina as one of the greatest Prime Minister of the world and he attributed the credit to Bangamata for skilfully upbringing her children and infusing them with humility, compassion, liberalism and patriotism. Ms. Natasha Ahmad, a childhood friend of Sheikh Russel and neighbour of Bangabandhu family in Dhanmondi 32 and an eminent social worker and researcher, highlighted the motherly affection of Bangamata reminiscing her experience with the family of Bangabandhu. She highlighted that Bangamata had the power to love people unconditionally.
