India was the first country to recognize Bangladesh as a separate and independent country and established diplomatic relations with the country immediately after its independence in December 1971. The relationship between India and Bangladesh is anchored in history, culture, language and shared values of secularism, democracy, and countless other commonalities between the two countries. It is based on sovereignty, equality, trust, understanding and a win-win partnership that goes far beyond a strategic partnership. In the last couple of years, the relationship has been further strengthened including through cooperation in new and high-technology areas.
With the onset of economic liberalization in South Asia, India & Bangladesh forged greater bilateral engagement and trade. They are close strategic partners in counter-terrorism. They are also the largest trading partners in South Asia.

India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka came together in the skies during Tarang Shakti-26, flying alongside each other in a Vic formation in the second week of Tarang Shakti, 2026.

তরঙ্গ শক্তি-২৬ (Tarang Shakti-26) চলাকালে ভারত, বাংলাদেশ ও শ্রীলঙ্কা তরঙ্গ শক্তি, ২০২৬-এর দ্বিতীয় সপ্তাহে আকাশে একে অপরের পাশাপাশি ভিক (Vic) ফরমেশনে উড্ডয়ন করে একত্রিত হয়।
এই মহড়ায় কার্যক্রমের গতি ও ব্যাপকতা প্রাথমিক পর্যায়ের স্মল ফোর্স এনগেজমেন্ট (SFEs) থেকে শুরু করে লার্জ ফোর্স এনগেজমেন্ট (LFEs)-এর পর্যায়ে উন্নীত হয়ে ক্রমশ বৃদ্ধি লাভ করে। এতে যোগদানকারী অংশীদার রাষ্ট্রগুলো তাদের অভিজ্ঞতা, সর্বোত্তম কর্মপদ্ধতি ও পরিচালনগত জ্ঞান বিনিময় করে।

High Commissioner Shri Dinesh Trivedi met with the Minister of Liberation War Affairs of Bangladesh, Mr. Ahmed Aazam Khan, on a courtesy call on September 30th.
The two sides exchanged views on matters of mutual interest and reaffirmed the longstanding ties and cooperation between India and Bangladesh.

আইজিসিসি, ভারতীয় হাই কমিশন, ঢাকা “অধিকতর সুস্থ আগামীর জন্য আয়ুর্বেদ (Ayurveda for a Healthier Tomorrow)” প্রতিপাদ্য নিয়ে ২৩ সেপ্টেম্বর ২০২৬-এ ১১তম আয়ুর্বেদ দিবস পালন করেছে।
এই অনুষ্ঠানে আয়ুর্বেদ ও প্রতিরোধমূলক স্বাস্থ্যসেবা বিষয়ক একটি অংশগ্রহণমূলক কর্মশালার আয়োজন করা হয়, যা পরিচালনা করেন ড. মোহাম্মদ মামুন মিয়া, অধ্যক্ষ, নূর-মজিদ আয়ুর্বেদিক কলেজ; অধ্যাপক ড. বাবুল আক্তার, হামদর্দ বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়; এবং ড. মো. জাকির হোসাইন, নূর-মজিদ আয়ুর্বেদিক কলেজ।
ভারতের হাই কমিশনার শ্রী দিনেশ ত্রিবেদী ভারত ও বাংলাদেশের অভিন্ন জ্ঞানবিষয়ক ঐতিহ্যের অংশ হিসেবে আয়ুর্বেদকে বিশেষভাবে তুলে ধরেন এবং প্রথাগত চিকিৎসাব্যবস্থা, গবেষণা ও জ্ঞান বিনিময়ের ক্ষেত্রে আরও বৃহত্তর সহযোগিতার সম্ভাবনার ওপর গুরুত্বারোপ করেন।
এই অনুষ্ঠানে বাংলাদেশি শিল্পী মিস শাহিন সোবহানা সুরভীর তৈরি ভগবান গণেশের একটি উলের ট্যাপেস্ট্রি উন্মোচন এবং বিশিষ্ট কণ্ঠশিল্পী শ্রী রঞ্জন চন্দ্র সরকারের একটি শাস্ত্রীয় সংগীত পরিবেশনাও অন্তর্ভুক্ত ছিল, যা স্বাস্থ্য, ঐতিহ্য ও সংস্কৃতির মেলবন্ধন ঘটায়।
এই আয়োজনে আয়ুর্বেদ ও প্রথাগত চিকিৎসাশাস্ত্রের শীর্ষস্থানীয় বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়সমূহ ও গবেষণা প্রতিষ্ঠানসমূহের শিক্ষার্থীগণ অত্যন্ত উদ্দীপনার সঙ্গে অংশগ্রহণ করেন।

The meeting highlighted the enduring bonds between India and Bangladesh, rooted in strong people-to-people ties. They discussed the importance of further deepening the bilateral partnership for the mutual benefit and prosperity of the peoples of the two sovereign nations, with particular emphasis on cooperation in education, technology and innovation.

They held discussions on wide ranging topics including enhancing bilateral cooperation in the field of civil aviation, improving air connectivity, enhancing air cargo capacity, improving bilateral working mechanisms and promoting tourism.
