Hon'ble Speaker of Assam Legislative Assembly Shri Biswajit Daimary led a multi-party delegation from the Legislative Assembly of Assam on an official visit to Bangladesh from 19-22 November 2022 at the invitation of Hon'ble Foreign Minister of Bangladesh H.E. Dr. A.K. Abdul Momen. The delegation called on Hon'ble Prime Minister of Bangladesh H.E. Sheikh Hasina and Hon'ble Speaker of Jatiya Sangsad, H.E. Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury. They also met the Commerce Minister H.E. Mr. Tipu Munshi. Foreign Minister H.E. Dr. Momen hosted a banquet in honour of the delegation. During these interactions, Shri Daimary and members of Assam Legislative Assembly delegation members conveyed their keen interest in promoting closer exchanges and cooperation, including people-to-people contacts and trade, between Assam and Bangladesh. During the visit, an accompanying cultural delegation from Assam also showcased traditional dance performances from the state. During their stay, the delegation also paid tributes at the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum in Dhanmondi and later, paid their respects at the Bangabandhu Mousoleum in Tungipara.
