High Commissioner Pranay Verma attended the annual celebration of Moitry, an alumni association of students who studied in India, on 24 November in Dhaka.
Addressing the gathering, High Commissioner lauded the initiatives of Moitry in building new bridges of friendship and goodwill between India and Bangladesh and fostering people-to-people links between them.
"My expectation and my hope will be that we will build on our current engagements by having you as partners in whatever we are doing to build newer bridges and linkages between our two countries and adding more strength to an already strong relationship that we have," he said. The High Commissioner added that by bringing together alumni of Indian institutions together, Moitri gave us an opportunity to interact with them in an organized way.
Over the years, Indian Council of Cultural Relations (ICCR) through the support of High Commission of India has created a large number of alumni who have become brand ambassadors and powerful links between India and Bangladesh. More than 4,500 Bangladeshi students have undergone courses under different programmes in premier Indian Institutes.
