Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Kolkata celebrated the Historic Mujibnagar Day on 17 April 2024 with the National Flag raising followed by laying floral wreath at the ‘Mujib Chiranjib’ at the Mission. A documentary marking this occasion was screened. In the discussion session, Mr. Sukharanjan Dasgupta, an eminent veteran journalist of India, shared his unique experience while he was covering the swearing-in ceremony event at Mujibnagar on 17 April 1971. He highlighted the exemplary visionary leadership of Bangabandhu and enormous contribution of Mujibnagar Government in attaining the victory of Bangladesh. The Deputy High Commissioner highlighted that the Mujibnagar Day carried great significance as it helped to create acceptability and legitimacy of Bangladesh Government. He further asserted that the people of Bangladesh should get inspiration from this day to build up prosperous, developed and smart Bangladesh as envisioned by the Hon’ble Prime Minister. A special prayer was offered on this occasion.
