High Commissioner Pranay Verma paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives of Bangladesh, H.E. Mr. Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on 3 March 2026. The discussions explored various areas of common interest, including enhanced cooperation to strengthen local governance structures and rural development, which are shared priorities of both countries. They also agreed to strengthen bilateral engagement in areas such as rural economy, agricultural cooperatives, financial empowerment at grassroots, etc. High Commissioner underlined that India-Bangladesh relations are founded on people-to-people ties and that India remains ready to engage with Bangladesh in a positive, constructive, and forward-looking manner to promote people-centric cooperation in all domains based on mutual interest and mutual benefit.  

হাই কমিশনার প্রণয় ভার্মা ৩ মার্চ ২০২৬-এ বাংলাদেশের স্থানীয় সরকার পল্লী উন্নয়ন ও সমবায় বিষয়ক মাননীয় মন্ত্রী, জনাব মির্জা ফখরুল ইসলাম আলমগীরের সঙ্গে সৌজন্য সাক্ষাৎ করেন। এই আলোচনায় উভয় দেশের অভিন্ন অগ্রাধিকার হিসেবে স্থানীয় সরকার কাঠামো ও পল্লী উন্নয়নকে জোরদার করার লক্ষ্যে সহযোগিতা বৃদ্ধিকরণসহ পারস্পরিক স্বার্থসংশ্লিষ্ট বিভিন্ন বিষয় পর্যালোচনা করা হয়। তাঁরা গ্রামীণ অর্থনীতি, কৃষি সমবায় ও তৃণমূল পর্যায়ে আর্থিক ক্ষমতায়নের মতো ক্ষেত্রগুলোতে দ্বিপাক্ষিক সম্পৃক্ততাকে শক্তিশালী করার বিষয়েও একমত পোষণ করেন। হাই কমিশনার তাৎপর্য সহকারে উল্লেখ করেন, ভারত-বাংলাদেশ সম্পর্কটি জনগণের সাথে জনগণের বন্ধনের ওপর ভিত্তি করে প্রতিষ্ঠিত এবং পারস্পরিক স্বার্থ ও পারস্পরিক কল্যাণের ভিত্তিতে সকল ক্ষেত্রে জনগণকেন্দ্রিক সহযোগিতা বৃদ্ধির লক্ষ্যে ইতিবাচক, গঠনমূলক ও ভবিষ্যতমুখী দৃষ্টিভঙ্গিতে বাংলাদেশের সঙ্গে সম্পৃক্ত থাকতে ভারত প্রস্তুত রয়েছে।
