A landmark celebration to commemorate a landmark day. High Commission of India, Dhaka celebrated 50 years of the strong bond & friendship between India & Bangladesh. H.E. Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury MP, Hon’ble Speaker of Bangladesh Parliament graced occasion as Chief Guest. Guests of honour on this special day included Foreign Minister, Agriculture Minister, Minister of Information & Broadcasting, Education Minister, Law Minister, Advisors to PM, State Ministers, CoAS, MPs, other senior leaders & officials, among others. High Commissioner of India Shri Vikram K. Doraiswami highlighted importance of 6 Dec & stressed highest priority given to celebrate 50th anniversary of Liberation of Bangladesh under leadership of PM Narendra Modi & PM H.E. Sheikh Hasina. This reflects in milestone joint celebrations across 16 countries besides Delhi & Dhaka. High Commissioner of India Shri Vikram K. Doraiswami underscored that Bangladesh freedom proved common bonds of culture, civilization & language transcend false theory that different religious groups cannot live together. In a special segment for the evening, High Commission of India, Dhaka felicitated four eminent & renowned personalities of Bangladesh for being conferred with the Padma Award for years 2020 & 2021. High Commissioner of India Shri Vikram K. Doraiswami honoured them with a small token of appreciation. To recall the memorable journey of last 50 years, a video specially produced for MaitriDiwas by Govt. of Bangladesh on behalf of both Govts. was screened. Video was also screened across 16 countries around the world as part of Joint MaitriDiwas celebrations. A soul-stirring musical evening to reflect the soul of Indo Bangladesh friendship. Organized by 'Taposh & Friends' from Gaan Bangla, on behalf of High Commission of India, Dhaka, the gala musical evening had performances by globally renowned artists from India and Bangladesh.
