The Bangladesh High Commission celebrated 55th Victory Day of Bangladesh in New Delhi (16 December) with distinguished ‘friends of Bangladesh’ in India.

The ??High Commission celebrated 55th Victory Day of Bangladesh in New Delhi (16 December) with distinguished ‘friends of Bangladesh’ in India.

The High Commissioner, H E M. Riaz Hamidullah, welcomed the guests which included former Indian diplomats, senior officials, #1971War veterans, cultural personalities, media, academia, think tanks members of civil society.

Paying tribute to all Freedom Fighters, the High Commissioner recounted the the valour of the Indian military leadership as also the Indian diplomats - artists - intellectuals during the nine-month Liberation War of Bangladesh.

He underscored that Bangladesh–India relations remain “deep and multi-layered,” and called for a future shaped by trust, dignity and mutual respect.

The celebration featured cultural performance showcasing Bengali songs and dances, adding a celebratory yet reflective note to the evening. A highlight was instrumental music (flute-mandolin) presented by ace flutist Jalal and percussionist Jahid Nirob, joining from Bangladesh.
